During transition I love to try my hand at new skills. Shown here is a fun animation concept following a thought about healthy streams for our planet. It all starts with a rough sketch taken into illustrator for fun movable vectors, and then on to Photoshop timeline. My what a challenge but a good one! Loved playing with the timeline and figuring out the timing to make this fun animation short. I’m happy with the results.
]]>An exercise to learn to use the Photoshop timeline with a very simple animation set on a loop and here is the result. Not bad for a first try, I like how the sun turned out and the background texture worked really well. I am excited to give this another go and master!

Building a brand for a dear friend in the museum evaluation field. Taline is the owner of KUYUMJIAN CONSULTING working in the cultural sector. Her work helps organizations such as: the Portland Children’s Museum, Crocker Art Museum and many more fabulous cultural centers around the United States reach their audiences and grant targets. I met Taline while at OMSI where she brought her unique insights and solutions to elevate the exhibits experience.
With her business taking off we reviewed her old logo and gave it a fresh look that reflects her energetic personality, wonderful sense of style, and amazing ability to find connections in data. I was honored to assist Taline in building her brand, with guidance on the process of finding “her look” to work for years to come, all packaged with a quick reference brand guide for a holistic look across all media and here it is, logo, stationery, favicon and fun pattern to use in other applications.
]]>Super honored to have been asked to assist OMSI in the branding of their newest exhibit “Under the Arctic, Digging into Permafrost.” This is a traveling exhibit set to go to many museums around the nation, complete with many fun interactives including a super cool replica permafrost tunnel, hands on lab for the kids, and stories of the community living with thawing permafrost.
The exhibit focuses on Alaska where the thaw of this very old ice is sadly dislodging communities as highlighted by the “first climate refugees” by guardian.com. Please note permafrost is not to be confused with glaciers. The real tunnel can be found in Fairbanks, Alaska where scientists take small groups on tours to experience first hand a real life mammoth tusk and an ancient squirrel nests trapped in the ice. As we are loosing this very important and old ice scientist perform research studies to learn as much as they can before permafrost becomes a thing of myth. The exhibit aims to shine a light on many of these aspects and explore how it will affect the region with its demise.
For the exhibit I was honored to assist the OMSI team with the logo design and illustration for many of the diagrams and art used throughout the exhibit. I have to say I am pretty excited to see it come to life. I really think it will be a fun exhibit with a whack-a-carbon game and an engineering challenge demonstrating the affects of sinking earth as permafrost thaws. In all the fun, I wonder if we may take a moment to think and consider our own carbon foot print, and how we can make small adjustments to help. Enjoy
]]>A fun project with the Lenses of the Sky team at OMSI. This was one of a few fun items made specifically for the educators team. As we did not have a ton of time or budget we created this fun puzzle to teach children about the night sky. Each puzzle piece reveals the constellation name to learn about the western night sky, and open the conversation about how humans have used the sky for story telling and navigation.
